Performances

Collaborating with artists, Magpie have given performances at venues including the South Bank Centre, Lilian Baylis and The Peacock Theatre (Sadler’s Wells), Trafalgar Square, Hextable Dance, Laban, The Albany and the Churchill Theatre – to name just a few!

Performances are a vital part of Magpie’s work, providing dancers with the opportunity to perform on a professional stage in front of an audience.  These happen on an ad-hoc basis, by invitation or via hires depending on funding.  If you would like to sponsor a performance please visit our Who's Who page and contact Jo Easingwood.

Our most recent performance was at The Albany on the 23rd June 2009, in front of a full house.  Our dancers thoroughly enjoyed the experience and we received great feedback:

"There is so much talent and it really is inspirational to see how it develops under your guidance and with your commitment.  You truly are life-changing people."

"Just wanted to say how wonderful I found both performances at the Albany yesterday.  The live music was great, and the choreography, use of film and the dancing was superb. As always, the audience seemed very appreciative of the energy and enthusiasm of the dancers. It’s been a real privilege to have seen the journey that Magpie has/is making…"

“The company continues to raise the self-esteem of all the dancers.  The support of the facilitators is excellent, knowing when to support and when to let the talent of the individual shine through”

“I thought the performance was amazing... I’m so proud every time I watch my sister perform”

“Well done to everyone – music was spot on, choreography was incredible – performers awe inspiring”

Magpie's whole company (both the Youth and Adult performance groups) performed in 'The Big Dance Festival Showcase' as part of Big Dance 2010.  The performances took place on the 9th and 10th July at the Churchill Theatre in Bromley and were hugely successful - it was the first time the whole company has performed together on stage, and without the aid of facilitators - congratulations to everyone involved!
