Special Projects

The philosophy of Magpie is that participation in the arts is for all, the emphasis being on ability, not disability.  We aim to spread the word and provide opportunities for everybody.  We are able to deliver educational workshops and outreach to anywhere in the UK.  We tailor these to your specific requirements and needs in consultation with our Artistic Director.  We also offer bespoke training in diversity, INSET days and inclusive working. Have a look through this section for more information on what we can provide.

Magpie also provides opportunities for current Magpie dancers to work with visiting artists and dance companies, enabling them to further develop their skills and techniques.

Siobhan Davies Dance: Choreographic Residencies

In 2008 and in 2009 we worked with award-winning contemporary dance company Siobhan Davies Dance.  The company is committed to making and presenting excellent work and values diversity; striving to be inclusive in all aspects of its work.  Pari Naderi, from Siobhan Davies Dance, worked with Magpie’s adults and youth group dancers intensively, sharing and learning new approaches, knowledge and skills in creating new dances.

Pari Naderi commented:
“I am so glad for the time I spent with the Magpies and their team. Both the Adult and the Youth Group are wonderful to work with and watching them develop their skills and understanding of how we can make and perform dance was a joyful experience.”
