We are delighted to announce that our Founding Artistic Director, Avril Hitman BEM, has been awarded the prestigious Lifetime Achiever Award at The National Diversity Awards, rewarding Britain’s most inspirational people for their fight against inequality. The Award ceremony took place at the Anglian Cathedral in Liverpool on Friday 8th September 2017 before a packed audience of 700 people including Award winners and nominees representing some of the UK’s most increible, positive role models, community organisations and entrepreneurs from the LGBT, ethnic minority, age, gender, religion and disability communities.
The National Diversity Awards have said:
‘After decades of supporting thousands of people with learning disabilities through the art of dance, Avril Hitman BEM received the prestigious lifetime achiever award. A list of tremendous achievements were recognised by judges, including Avril’s determination to challenge perceptions surrounding disability and impacting on the wider world of dance, health and education’
Thrilled to be presented with this Award, Avril said:
