Magpie Dance are currently mentoring a new inclusive dance group in Scotland. ‘Ballet Bees’ have recently launched classes for children with additional support needs and life limiting illnesses.

Ballet Bees is the first group of it’s kind in Scotland. It has been started by the Buddy Field Charity, who felt that there was a need for an inclusive dance group in their community and so set about to make it happen.

Ballet Bees recruited a number of dance teachers and volunteers all eager to learn how to deliver and support inclusive classes. They then commissioned Magpie Dance to deliver a professional development workshop and mentor their teachers. Natasha and Erica flew to Scotland for a day in April, to deliver inclusive dance CPD to the group. Leaving them armed with ideas for their classes, Ballet Bees launched two weeks later.

Natasha will be returning to visit the group and watch the classes in action in June. She will be delivering further CPD and providing bespoke support to the teachers and volunteers to address any challenges they are facing and to support them in building on their strengths.

Magpie offer bespoke mentoring projects to any organisation or individual looking for personalised CPD.
