Martha Kearney joins Magpie Dance as Patron

Posted on: October 14, 2019

Magpie Dance are honoured to announce that award winning journalist and broadcaster Martha Kearney will be their newest Patron.

Martha is best known for presenting The World at One on BBC Radio 4 and the early morning Today programme.

Magpie Dance is an inclusive dance charity for children and adults with learning disabilities. With unique methodology participants gain life, social and communication skills with health and wellbeing benefits.

On commencing her new role Martha said “I am really delighted to offer support to Magpie as I know from personal experience that dance can be a wonderful way for children and adults with learning disabilities to enjoy themselves as well as finding deeper artistic expression – not to mention all the physical benefits”.

Martha has a wealth of knowledge and interests, not least bee keeping and other charitable activities. Despite her early starts for the Today programme, Magpie Dance are impressed that Martha can also find time to empower dancers. Martha has covered every election since 1987 and interviewed every subsequent British Prime Minister, so they’re hoping they won’t face a grilling from the skilled interviewer!

Magpie Dance welcome Martha on board “Any charity would be lucky to have such a Patron. We’re thrilled that Magpie Dance’s ethos has resonated with Martha. We look forward to working together to empower more people with learning disabilities” Laura Graham, Executive Director Magpie Dance.

You can support Magpie Dance in lots of different ways too; find out more, become a friend or make a donation today!

Saturday MAC dancer, thanks Martha

Thank you Martha!
