We’re recruiting!

Magpie Dance seeks a new Chair of the Board to secure the future for this inspiring arts charity.

Magpie Dance is now actively recruiting for a new Chair of the Board and is welcoming applications from candidates from all backgrounds. This nationally recognised charity, which has recently celebrated it’s 35th Anniversary, is looking to recruit a committed Chair to provide strategic vision and leadership in the field of arts and learning disability.

Magpie Dance is the UK’s leading dance charity working with people with learning disabilities. Since 1985, the company has been running workshops and dance classes for children and adults. Participants have a range of learning disabilities and are aged three +, with no upper age limit on taking part.

Working with professional dance practitioners and musicians, through dance, participants gain significant life, social and communication skills with measurable health and wellbeing benefits. They stage regular performances, often in prestigious performing arts venues and ambitious and highly skilled dancers are supported through professional progression pathways.

The charity also delivers professional training for education, dance, health and business clients nationally and we work in partnership with the NHS to provide in-patient work for clients with dementia and a range of complex learning disabilities.

The Chair will facilitate and attend five board meetings per year (in Bromley and London), one board strategy away-day per year, provide leadership for the board of trustees and the Co-CEO’s of the charity, and represent the charity at various events and meetings with key stakeholders.

This position also has responsibility, along with the Trustees, for the strategic direction, governance and development of this award winning charity based in SE London.
