Dance Workshops Wanted!

Posted on: 13/09/2023

Magpie Dance, one of the UK’s leading dance charities for dancers with learning disabilities, are looking for dance workshop leaders for their new artistic theme Our Land.

We are looking for artists to lead workshops based on this theme as part of our research phase, please get in touch if you can run a dance or other creative workshop on any of the following topics or on any cultural dance that relates to this theme:

  • Climate change
  • Protecting the planet
  • Ecosystems
  • Natural disasters (eg. heatwaves, forest fires, floods and destruction)
  • Dances related to the elements (Earth, Fire, Water, Air) including myths and legends related to the elements

Our Land explores environmental issues and climate change; how we relate to and look after the natural world today. With a focus on how people with learning disabilities are disproportionately affected by climate change and yet are not always part of the conversation.

Over the course of the next year Magpie Dancers will be researching the theme of climate change using the four elements as inspiration to create new live and digital performances which will be performed at our full company production in July 2024.

Magpie Dance are happy to answer any questions you may have about making your workshop accessible to people with learning disabilities and Magpie Dance staff would be present in any workshop to help assist. Workshops will take place in London Borough of Bromley, with international workshops via Zoom considered.
