Magpie Dance were proud to showcase their full company production Our Future at Langley Park Centre for Performing Arts on Sunday 26th July 2026.
After celebrating their 40th Anniversary last year, this year, Magpie Dance were looking forwards to think about what the future might hold for Magpie Dance and for society as a whole.
Over the past academic year (and the course of this artistic theme Our Future) Magpie Dance gathered ideas from dancers, parents/carers, staff, volunteers and everyone involved in Magpie Dance, which dancers developed to create their own live and digital performances.
The event began with an exhibition, where audience members could learn all about the Our Future project and share their own ideas for the future.
Our Magpie Adult Choreographers then taught a class to audience members based on their recent collaboration with BalletBoyz.
This was followed by a full company performance where Magpie Dancers aged 3+ with learning disabilities performed on stage accompanies by a live band, they also premiered their new dance film Hybrid.
Among the audience, Magpie Dance were delighted to welcome the Deputy Mayor of Bromley who took part in the workshop as well as enjoyed the show.
One of Magpie Dance’s adult dancers said, “we did this performance for Magpie Dance at Langley and it was absolutely brilliant” describing the day as “spectacular, fabulous and sparkling!”
Speaking of the whole Our Future project, Magpie Dance’s Artistic Director Alison Ferrao said:
“This year has been an exciting one for us – taking the time to explore the company from all angles and to hear about our dancers’ hopes and dreams for the future will help us shape the next part of our journey and ensure Magpie Dance will be here for generations to come.”
A huge thank you to all who attended Our Future both in person and virtually using the live stream and to those who made the event possible – Magpie Dance staff, volunteers and musicians, the venue and technical staff, Magpie parents, carers and support workers and of course all the wonderful Magpie Dancers!
“The whole performance was truly amazing. I couldn’t take my eyes off from start to finish.” – Audience Member
