Training and workshops

Magpie Dance offers inclusive dance training, workshops, and Continued Professional Development (CPD) to schools, organisations, businesses and universities.

Whether you work in the arts, community, disability, education, healthcare sectors or beyond, our methodology is unique and we know you’ll find it insightful and inspiring.  Above all, we’re about inclusivity and empowerment.  We’ll give you the skills, confidence, and resources to ensure your delivery is inclusive and engages and empowers the individuals you work with. 

You may be:

A school or organisation for people with learning disabilities, Dementia or complex needs
For example: SEN schools, day centres and residential homes looking to offer new activities for clients/users/pupils, OR looking to develop skills with colleagues. Suitable for those working with people with learning disabilities, who may also have additional needs such dementia, mental health needs, physical disabilities and/or challenging behaviours.
A University or college looking for placements and workshop opportunities for your students
For example: We offer placement opportunities, theoretical/practical workshops for students, or sessions and workshops at universities.
A business or workforce
Whether seeking to improve communication skills (we have delivered training with the Metropolitan Police and The Churchill Theatre), develop accessible resources for your audience (previous clients are Royal Opera House and The Place) or make your current work more inclusive (we have delivered training with Boy Blue and Babyballet).     A flavour of what we deliver

    Marlborough School in Sidcup

    A regular team of Magpie Dance staff visit Marlborough school providing 7 dance sessions in one school day, every week during term time. An on-going partnership, classes of all ages benefit from fun and inclusive dance sessions.

    The Royal Academy of Dance (RAD)

    Each year, we take Royal Academy of Dance (RAD) placements who attend our sessions and gain hands on experience of our inclusive dance teaching methods and mentorship from our facilitators. Often on graduation RAD students become Magpie Dance volunteers or facilitators.

    Inclusive Dance Practice Training (IDPT)

    The ground breaking IDP training not only provides role models in facilitators and assistants who also trust in this, but also several opportunities to exercise this planning, patience and focused and active delivery of material in a real setting.

    Local Schools

    Inclusive dance workshops with live music, have been delivered by our team at many local schools including: Glebe School, Newstead Wood School, Scott’s Park School, Marjorie McClure School, Nash College, Riverside School – to name just a few! Contact us to find out about us coming to deliver fun and inclusive dance classes for all abilities and needs at your school (mainstream or SEN).

    Affiliate of the Council for Dance and Musical Theatre (CDMT).

    Magpie Dance is an affiliate member of CDMT who “ensures the provision of high quality professional training through Accreditation of full-time dance, drama and musical theatre schools and colleges, and has provided the industry benchmark of quality assurance for professional training in the UK since 1979” source: CDMT.
