Laura has been a member of Magpie Dance for many years, starting with the Youth Group and then joining the adult choreographers in 2011, and is now proud to be an Ambassador and Shadow Board Member.

Laura loves to dance and Magpie has developed not only her dancing skills but her self-confidence, self-discipline and self-reliance. It has also helped her interpersonal skills and widened her circle of friends.

Laura was very proud to attend workshops at the Royal Ballet and to perform there and at other prestigious venues. During the Covid restrictions she attended Zoom sessions and improved her computer skills and maintained her fitness.

She enjoys sport and represented Great Britain in swimming at the Special Olympics European Youth Games in Rome in 2006, winning a gold and silver medal, and at the SO World Games in Athens in 2011, winning a silver medal. She was a torch bearer for the 2004 Athens Olympic Games and also for the 2012 London Olympic Games. She then volunteered as a Games Maker at the Olympic Park. Laura was a member of the National Disability Rhythmic Gymnastics Display Team and performed at the 2003 Gymnaestrada in Portugal. She also attends Bromley Adult Education classes and is an avid Harry Potter fan.

Laura likes being on the Shadow Board because she enjoys sharing her views and hearing other people’s opinions and ideas and wants to do the best she can towards the future of Magpie Dance.
